the awe of it all
I came alone
Alone so I could be anonymous
Anonymous so I could dissolve
Nameless into the darkness of the back row
House lights suddenly bright
My face alight in a sea of unknowns
Their lyrics explode toward me
A supernova of sound in slow motion
They said nothing is final
That this wasn’t finished
That this would be co-created between us
That after the nervous laughter and the uncomfortable silences
There would come a moment
They stood standing on stage
Silently suspended in the awe of it all
Palms open eyes wide
Glistening
Staring out into the strobe-lit faces of strangers
Strangers whose heart's they had ripped open
Stranger's whose heart's were laid bare on their chairs
Strangers whose faces gave them calm
They say there is so much peace to be found in people's faces
I feel every breath of every atom of every cell
I feel the unknown being of being known
Of being here in this moment, of being there in their moment
In the only moment that ever is or ever was or ever will be
They stood
I sat
We were, breathing
In a moment of living poetry
In a moment of pure presence
